Since 1555, Charlemont has held a strategic position in the heart of Europe.
First in defence of Charles V's empire, the stronghold was then coveted and besieged by all the Greats of Europe and until 1914 it never surrendered.
Today, it is the tourist who climbs the assault of the citadel, privileged witness of history.
Discovered in the open air, on a marked circuit, running through the Pointe-Est, the ancient village of Charlemont, or the galleries built over the centuries for the defense of the citadel.
The Charlemont site has been protected as a historical monument since October 24, 1927.

It is one of the must-see outings to do with your family during your stay in the Ardennes, it is of course the Green Way by bike.
Located along the towpath, the Greenway is a huge bike path that connects the towns of Givet and Charleville and more. Indeed, the latter now extends to Sedan and is still in the short term of extension.
On foot, by bike, in roller skates, in gyropode, in rosalies... there are many possibilities to spend a real moment of relaxation on the banks of the Meuse and admire the beauty of the Ardennes landscapes.
When it's hot, there's nothing like a night out at the pool for fun and splashing with your family. It's a good thing that the Rivéa aqualudic centre in Givet is the perfect place for that.

With clues and GPS coordinates, you'll have to be patient and judgmental to find the treasures hidden in the territory.

A guide accompanies you for almost an hour, for an adventure more than 30 meters underground and through a dozen rooms spread over three floors.
The visit can be done in three languages: French, English, Dutch.
